Absolute Sword Sense Wiki

Baek Ryeon-Ha is the Young Lady and succession candidate of Blood Cult in the "Absolute Sword Sense" Novel and Webtoon.

Background[]

She is direct and legitimate heir of previous leader Baek Moo-Young. That's why after Blood Cult lost the great orthodox-unorthodox war, she was carefully hidden and protected by remaining cult executives. During last cult assembly before dispatching regrouped forces, Han Baek-Ha was appointed as a Baek Ryeon-Ha protector and nanny. Because of this decision young lady ended up in the Sixth Blood Valley. Unfortunately for her, she had a disease, that blocked her progress in martial arts. This caused losing a support of the cult that was in process of rebuilding, despite her strongest legitimacy. Even first elder, Dan Wei-Kang, the strongest warrior in Blood Cult after the war, decided to openly support her sister Baek Hye-Hyang.

It's uncertain what happened to her in the first time lime. She recovered from her illness because the plants were found, which is why Jin Woon-Hwi knew where to locate them in the second timeline. However, she did not have any support from anyone besides Han Baek-Ha and another blood star. Due to how Baek Hye-Hyang rose to be the Blood Demon in the first timeline, Baek Ryeon-Ha was probably eliminated behind the scene.

Personality and history[]

She is resembling in many ways her older sister Baek Hye-Hyang. Unfortunately juxtaposing them, Baek Ryeon-Ha is lacking in every aspect. She is less talented in martial arts, leadership and even in conquering a heart of Jin Woon-Hwi. Both of sisters lusts for Wonhwi, but Baek Ryeon-Ha is more shy and withdrawn, while Baek Hye-Hyang is confident and gradually pressing on Jin Woon-Hwi's feelings. Despite that during a crucial moment Baek Hye-Hyang found humility in herself to accept Jin Woon-Hwi as a Blood Demon and knelt before him for a greater sect good. While poisoned Baek Ryeon-Ha driven by her deep ambition, desire and Gu Jae-Yang shames tried to secure leader spot till the end. After this event deeply sick, despite being manipulated and controlled by illusion poison, she felt huge regret and was not able to approach Wonhwi anymore. She gave up on her feelings and fully committed herself to the Blood Cult and her new High Priest position.

Myst, Might, Mayhem[]

It's uncertain what happened to her after events of ''Absolute Sword Sense''. She could have died during Day of the Great Calamity decades later, or she could also survived and died of old age later. There is also a possibility that she died even before Calamity due to health issues as a side effects of being poisoned by illusion poison.

Considering behavior of the Blood Demon's heir Dam Baek-ha towards Jin Ye-Rin, most likely she is from Baek Ryeon-Ha side not a Baek Hye-Hyang linage.

No. Young Miss, you are the only remaining true heir who can carry on the lineage of our sect. How can this subordinate not pay her respects?

Dam Baek-ha, to Jin Ye-Rin

Both of them have Blood Demon's blood in their veins, but Jin Ye-Rin is confirmed descendant of the Jin Woon-Hwi. Considering that phrase ''the only remaining true heir'' means that Dam Baek-ha is not from Wonhwi linage. So Baek Hye-Hyang linage faded with death of the Blood Cult's leader during the calamity.

What do you mean you don’t have the qualifications? He was also the sect leader of our Nine Blood Sect. If you, who inherited his bloodline, don’t have the qualifications, then who does?

Dam Baek-ha, to Jin Ye-Rin

The only existing Blood Demon's bloodline in the Cult, expect of the Baek Hye-Hyang, was Baek Ryeon-Ha's side. This proves that Dam Baek-ha is her descendant. So she had to found someone and create a family. The only other existing bloodline that carries the Blood Demon's heritage is that of So Yong-Yong. However, she had no affiliation with the Blood Cult, being connected only to the Murim Alliance and the Storm Shadow Eight Forms Order, making this possibility extremely unlikely.

Another possibility is that Dam Baek-ha became the new Blood Demon after the apocalypse not due to blood ties, but because her master, Dam Ye-Hwa, was a disciple of Jin Woon-Hwi. However, this scenario is also unlikely, considering the words Sima Chak later directed toward her.

Yes, it’s a curse. Why do you think that guy, who was no different from an immortal being, left you and the bloodline descendants behind and ascended? Because he couldn’t endure it every time his loved ones left his side one by one.

Sima Chak, to Dam Baek-ha

In this statement, Sima Chak refers to Jin Woon-Hwi, placing Dam Baek-ha alongside his own blood descendants in the same sentence, within the context of the pain of watching one's family die of old age. This strongly indicates that she, too, is part of his family, confirming that she must be his relative and, therefore, a descendant of Baek Ryeon-ha.

Martial Arts[]

She in not as strong as her sister Baek Hye-Hyang, but despite starting martial arts learning late, she is much stronger then most of people at her age thanks to blood of the Blood Demon in her veins. Baek Ryeon-Ha is also the less talented among three successors. She learned most of Han Baek-Ha martial techniques apart from her ultimate technique the Illusionary Eye. Her progress in martial arts was stopped again after being poisoned and manipulated by Gu Jae-Yang. It's unknown if she has made any significant progress after obtaining honorary position of High Priest.
