The story takes place in Haeakcheon’s cave, where he and his disciples, Song Jwabaek and So Woon-hwi, face physical and mental training challenges to hone their martial skills. Song Jwabaek arrives at the cave injured after a tough fight against Oh Daeju, but the experienced and demanding Haeakcheon criticizes him, stating that he would have suffered even more if he had faced his opponent alone.

Woon-hwi, however, surprises Haeakcheon by returning unharmed, which increases the rivalry between the disciples. Haeakcheon decides to intensify his training, creating tension between the two young men.

Meanwhile, the narrator, So Woon-hwi, reflects on the rigor of his training, especially with the legacy of the legendary swordsman Namcheon. He trains tirelessly under the guidance of Namcheoncheolgeom, a consciousness within his sword, who insists on perfecting the fundamentals before advancing to more complex techniques.

During his three months of training, Woon-hwi learned three advanced swordsmanship techniques—Hoasegeom (a fierce attack), Jamhapgonggeom (an explosive counterattack), and Formless Sword (a fluid and unpredictable technique). Despite the challenges, he begins to gain confidence, although Namcheoncheolgeom is critical of his progress.

As time goes on, the rivalry between the disciples grows, and the final showdown between Haeakcheon and his disciples draws near. After months of intense training and focus, Woon-hwi feels ready to face his master, setting the story in motion at a time of great anticipation and tension.
