Synopsis[]
Novel[]
The protagonist, formerly a spy, is surprised to find that his allies have not abandoned him, as he had expected. In the past, he would often leave his companions behind depending on the situation. However, he discovers that one of the Venerables has disguised himself as a monk to look for him, and that Baekryeonha and his entourage have been waiting for him for two days. On the way back, Ijon Seogalma emphasizes that this situation is exceptional and that he must be sincere in his response.
Upon arriving at the temple, he is enthusiastically welcomed by the warriors of the Blood Cult, who celebrate his return. Among them is Song Ja-baek, who, despite his stern tone, does not hide his pleasure at seeing him. When the leader Baekryeonha and other important members of the cult appear, they are surprised by his survival, especially Hae-ak-cheon, whose face lights up with joy for a moment before reprimanding her.
The protagonist recognizes his mistake and apologizes, showing humility. However, Baekryeonha stops him from bowing in gratitude, recognizing his merits. As a reward for his contributions, she decides to promote him to a higher position. This decision causes surprise among the members of the cult, especially Song Ja-baek, who reacts with disbelief. With this promotion, the protagonist becomes one of the main military leaders of the Blood Cult, having the power to command three battalions. With this new position, he begins to consider which warriors he can place under his command. He thinks of Jo Seong-won, who has exceptional abilities and potential to rise to the next level. Another name that comes to mind is Sima Ying, a young woman of great talent whom he managed to convince to join the cult. As he ponders this, Baekryeonha notices Sima Ying's presence and is surprised to learn that she is a woman, as her appearance was very androgynous. When Sima Ying removes her mask, her beauty impresses everyone. The protagonist notices that Baekryeonha is looking at him strangely, which leads his companions to speculate that she may be jealous. He does not fully understand the situation, but his allies comment that women can get uncomfortable when they see a man they like paying attention to another woman.
As the group tries to understand Sima Ying's situation, the protagonist decides that he needs to ensure that she is placed under his command before she is assigned to another post. He asks Hae-ak-cheon for help, but before confirming the recruitment, he decides to reveal an important secret: Sima Ying is the daughter of Sima Zhao, the legendary Wolaek Swordsman. This revelation shocks Hae-ak-cheon, who immediately realizes the possible implications of this discovery.
The story unfolds as the protagonist tries to solidify his position within the Blood Cult while dealing with political and emotional challenges. His past as a spy has taught him to be cautious and to expect betrayal, but he begins to realize that he may have found a place where he can trust his allies. At the same time, he must deal with the complex relationships between cult members and the power dynamics that emerge with his rapid rise.
