Hearing the sound of the river, Haeakcheon, a martial arts master, noticed the phenomenon. He recognized it as a map of the kings and expressed a desire to duel, but the situation did not allow it. Still, his competitiveness was evident. His interlocutor, Haeakcheon, understood his intentions and laughed, indicating that he avoided confrontation out of prudence.
Meanwhile, a spy named Do Young-hyun approached. He was a veteran, with nine years of service undercover in the Martial Arts Federation. His importance to the mission was undeniable, as he knew the inner details of the castle. Observing him, it was clear that he did not go directly to the group, but to a meeting point where Gowoldang warriors were already waiting for him.
Veteran spies have strategic contacts. They meet at regular locations to avoid suspicion. When Do Young-hyun looked around and made a discreet gesture, the observers understood that it was the agreed password. In this way, he recognized who was part of the mission without arousing suspicion. Despite this, Song Ja-baek showed nervousness and almost exposed himself, but Haeakcheon only clicked his tongue, indicating disapproval.
After obtaining crucial information, the team headed to a village on the outskirts of the Murim Alliance castle. The spy's hideout contained detailed records of the castle's security, including guard shift changes and vulnerable points. The group memorized this information and burned the document. With everything ready, Haeakcheon emphasized that only they could infiltrate, as the great masters present at the event could recognize him, compromising the mission.
Inside the castle, the infiltrators split up. Jo So-Woon-Hwi, Song Ja-baek, and I followed separate strategies, aiming to reach the finals of the competition. Song Ja-baek agreed to forfeit if both of us made it to the final round. Haeakcheon handed over two special sheaths, designed to hide another sword inside. He warned us to never leave them behind.
The mission required us to prepare the Namcheon Iron Sword so that it would be recognized by everyone. To do so, I went to Blacksmith Street in the western part of the city, known for weapons experts. The goal was to find a blacksmith capable of handling Hancheol, a rare metal. Among more than forty workshops, one name came to mind: a great craftsman who would later become famous for repairing the sword of Baek Hyang-muk, one of the Eight Great Sword Masters. However, at that time, he was still unknown.
Looking around, I noticed that the blacksmith shops were bustling with activity due to the competition. Finally, I found a run-down workshop in the far corner. It stood out from the others, with no signs of activity. As I approached, I heard pleading voices coming from inside. They were murmurs of weapons wanting to be destroyed. Intrigued, I entered the forge and came across a forty-year-old man lying drunk, surrounded by broken pieces of iron. Near him, a hammer indicated that he had destroyed those blades himself.
As I went further in, I was surprised by the sight of almost a hundred broken swords, all stuck in a giant incense burner. It was clear that he was trying to replicate Baek Hyang-muk's Muk-seon sword. I muttered in amazement, "This is ridiculous..."
The smithy exuded an air of despair and failure. However, if the blacksmith present was indeed who I suspected, he could be the key to restoring the Namcheon Iron Sword. But would he accept the task? This doubt hung in the air.
