Novel[]
When Paeung, the ruler of Bonglim Valley, died, everything went as expected. Those who lacked internal energy abilities quickly surrendered. Without the leader, order was restored without difficulty. The protagonist took control, but had no interest in staying, so he established his base in a cave with a nail. The others accepted him, especially those who hated Paeung, showing friendship. However, he knew that loyalty was volatile and any carelessness could lead to betrayal.
In the cave, the men organized supplies and furnished the space with root mats and useful objects. Many of Paeung's items were collected, even though the protagonist did not want to share anything with the former leader. Soon, the cave became a habitable place. With everything ready, a man named Gapchan offered to help and served as an intermediary, taking on some responsibilities to maintain order in the cave and ensure the survival of the group.
Over the next few days, the protagonist devoted himself to physical and mental training, practicing push-ups without resorting to internal abilities. During one of these training sessions, he heard a roaring sound, but realized that it was only Jaso, a peculiar creature with purple eyes that he had named. Jaso liked to play, especially picking up pieces of roasted fish, something that the protagonist had taught him.
As the days passed, the protagonist wondered about the whereabouts of Saha-ryeong, his sister, and the Blood Sect. He wondered how the Sect was coping with his absence and whether Baekryeonha, the original leader, would take over. As he pondered these questions, a bearded man appeared at the entrance of the cave, afraid to enter because of Jaso. He came in search of fish for his leader, Wolno, who was dying.
The protagonist decided to help and prepared some smoked fish for the ailing elder. However, the bearded man revealed that Wolno wanted to see his benefactor in person before he died. The protagonist accepted the request and went to meet the dying man.
When he arrived at Wolno's cave, he saw an old man lying down, very weak, surrounded by three wounded men. Wolno had eight followers before, but now only half were present, which indicated a worrying situation. Wolno insisted on getting up to greet his benefactor, but was persuaded to remain lying down. Even though he was weak, he maintained an impressive dignity and thanked him for having had a decent last meal.
Wolno mentioned that he regretted that young people like the protagonist were trapped in that place, but that the day of his departure was near. Then the old man revealed that his entire family had been killed, except for his only daughter, who managed to escape. He wanted to leave a message for her, in case she was still alive. The protagonist offered to take the message when he left the valley.
When he heard Wolno's daughter's name, Ha-ryeong, the protagonist was surprised. That was his own mother's name. It could have been a coincidence, but the description of the events made him consider a deeper connection. As he tried to process this information, Wolno noticed his reaction and became alert. It was at this moment that the voice of Iron Sword Namcheon sounded in his mind, indicating that there was something very important in this revelation.
The discovery that Ha-ryeong could be connected to the protagonist brought a new mystery. Wolno, already on the verge of death, wanted to find his daughter again or at least have hope that she was alive. The protagonist now found himself involved in a personal enigma that could change everything he knew about his own history.
