The eyes were so mysterious that just looking at them was enough. This was the first time I had seen someone with golden eyes.

“Golden eyes…”

I heard Namcheoncheolgeom’s surprised voice in my head. I was also surprised to see the existence of the Golden Eye, which I had only heard about in stories.

“Is this the guy who fought Swordsman Namcheon?” I asked.

The answer was unexpected.

“No.”

“No?”

“This isn’t the face I saw back then. It looks completely different.”

So who the hell was he? As I was thinking, Namcheoncheolgeom spoke again:

“The person I saw back then only had one golden eye. This guy has both…”

“Hey!”

Before Namcheoncheolgeom could finish speaking, the golden-eyed man called out to me. He looked excited.

“He asked if you took off the amulet.”

If he could speak, then he was a rational being, unlike monsters. But if he wasn’t the golden-eyed man who killed Swordsman Namcheon, then who was he?

Even though I was still skeptical, I answered,

“I have no idea what that means.”

“So it was you?”

The golden-eyed man turned to the one-armed man and asked,

“What are you talking about…?”

Just like me, the other man didn’t seem to understand either.

The golden-eyed man tilted his head and muttered,

“He fell by himself without anyone pulling him out? Sure, so what? Hahahaha!”

Then he laughed to himself. His face was handsome, but his manner of speaking was rude and brazen. I didn’t know who he was, but something told me he was dangerous.

“I think so too,” Namcheoncheolgeom said. “He looks just as dangerous as the one my old master and I faced.”

“What are you going to do?”

I looked at the chains attached to the golden-eyed man’s legs. Even though the iron balls on his hands had been removed, those chains still made it difficult for him to move. Was fighting an option? I couldn’t gauge his strength. My innate energy had increased, but if I couldn’t even estimate his power, then he was definitely superior to me. Could I escape? I looked around, calculating possibilities. But I didn’t know if I could escape while carrying the one-armed man. Just as cutting off his arms didn’t stop him, cutting off his legs probably wouldn’t stop his pursuit. “Hey. Can I borrow this?” Before I could react, he pointed at the Namcheon Iron Sword I was holding. “No,” Namcheoncheolgeom replied immediately. I didn’t want to either. If I handed over the sword, what would happen? “You mean this?” I held out my sword. The man nodded. “Yes. This sword.”

Something was strange. If he had fought the Swordsman Namcheon, he would have recognized the sword immediately. But he seemed to know nothing about it. Maybe Namcheoncheolgeom was right and he was a completely different person.

“I didn’t ask for much, so why are you hesitating so much?”

“I don’t see any reason to lend you my sword.”

The man laughed, noticing my caution.

“If I have both hands free, I can get rid of this iron ball. You should consider that.”

“Then why do you want to borrow a sword?”

“Just because the body heals quickly doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt when it gets hurt.”

“Do you feel pain?”

He revealed important information without hesitation. But I was curious: if he wanted a sword, did that mean he could cut through the iron chains that bound him? Those chains hadn’t even been scratched before.

After hesitating, I made an offer.

“I’ll lend it to you if you promise something.”

“Promise?”

“In a way, I was the one who freed your hands. So I’d like a guarantee that you won’t cause any trouble.”

The golden-eyed man looked at me for a moment, then smiled.

“Alright. I’m not without morals. Since I was freed thanks to you, I’ll make that promise.”

I tossed him the Namcheon Iron Sword. He caught it deftly and swung it in the air a few times before cutting through the chains with ease.

“It’s been a while since I’ve held a sword.”

The metal cut through the iron like paper, without sparks. He was a great swordsman.

“Good sword,” he praised, cutting through the rest of the bonds.

Then, with a casual movement, he tossed the sword back to me.

“I think I’ll keep my promise.”

The next moment, the pain in my left eye intensified. I closed it, unable to bear it.

When I opened it, the man was standing right in front of me. He grabbed my wrist and held my shoulder firmly.

“You’re very good. At this level, you could have become famous in the martial arts world.”

“Didn’t you promise not to cause trouble?”

He ignored my complaint.

“Why don’t you open your left eye?”

“What?”

Suddenly, he brought his face closer and sniffed as if he were smelling me.

“What are you doing?”

He mumbled something incomprehensible:

“Did you receive the Gold Medal treatment while you were still alive?”

“What?”

He mentioned a “room full of glowing stones.”

How did he know about that?

“Do you have the same constitution as that guy? Or is it related to the energy in this heart?”

He pressed my skin, causing a cold energy to invade my body. But my innate energy reacted, pushing it away. The man stepped back and laughed.

“Well, that’s right. It protected you.”

“Protected? From what?”

“Lucky you.”

He then pressed acupuncture points near my heart. A wave of coldness ran through me.

“Ugh!”

Nausea washed over me. I vomited.

“It’s channeled now. It won’t be a big deal.”

“What… did you do?”

“You’ll thank me for the rest of your life.”

With that, he walked away, disappearing into the western cave.

“If you see a man with only one golden eye, run away immediately.”

Those were his last words before he disappeared.

Suddenly, a tremor shook the community. A deafening roar echoed.

“What was that?!”

Water began to gush out of the cave, flooding everything.

“We need to get out of here!”

I grabbed the man by the arm and ran. As I dove into the water, I heard Namcheoncheolgeom shout,

“Your left eye…!”

“What’s wrong with it?”

“It’s turned gold!”

I was surprised and almost swallowed water. My left eye… had changed.
