Illusionary Eye (환의안, 정요환의안) is a technique that was used by Han Baek-Ha. It was taught to Jin Woon-Hwi after he won her bet. Unlike usual martial arts, it is a mind technique that is divided into 4 stages. The first stage only requires mental power while other stages require the use of innate energy. The method to make it stronger is to cultivate innate qi. It was one of the 2 pieces left behind by one of the 8 Immortal Daoist, He Xiangu. However, she deliberately burned the final chapter so no one could complete the 4th stage. Nevertheless, Jin Woon-Hwi reconstructed it and unlocked all of its secret on his own.
Background[]
The book was found by Han Baek-Ha 20 years before the events of Absolute Sword Sense at the shrine of an unnamed ancestor. However, the book was ripped in half and only contains methods of the first 3 stage. Information about the ultimate fourth stage and making it stronger was missing.
It is because of this ability that Han Baek-Ha was called a witch. She could only reach the first stage.
Power[]
An ability used by a person to interfere with the opponent's natural ability to control energy or ki, this power can influence the opponent's senses by looking at them, whoever looks into the eyes of the person using it becomes trapped within illusion. After reaching fourth stage of that technique user can makes illusion real for opponent senses. So, flesh and blood of that person react to those false visions as if they were real, causing death. Seeing this can reminds heart sword, even Sima Chak mistook fourth stage with it, when he witnessed illusionary eye for the first time.
After achieving certain level of proficiency of illusionary eye it's possible to inflict that technique also due the sound, without need of looking at opponent eyes.
The ability is split into 4 stages:
- The first stage steals the target's consciousness. The opponent will feel confused or lose their thoughts.
- The second stage can make the target do what the user wants. The target can't give information or hurt themselves.
- The third stage can cause hallucination to the target.
- The fourth stage can influence the five senses.
When Han Baek-Ha used this on Woonhwi for the first time he almost felt his heart stop, though his innate qi rose up to defend him against it, before Hae Ak-Cheon stopped her.
Two known masters who achieved final level of illusionary eye, used it in the same way. Inflicting that technique by just a single step, they caused hundreds of people instantly die or faint. Both of them also used it at Shaolin Temple causing a huge uproar of witnesses and entire central plains. Because of that characteristic aspect people of both Old Murim and New Murim era called that phenomenon ''Domineering step''.

The ability requires intense concentration and will not work on someone with strong mental strength or stronger than the user. An external shock like a clap can snap the target out of it. It is not possible to get information out of the target with the 2nd stage. From the second stage and on, it consumes innate qi so people without a way to replenish innate qi will die from overused.
