Jin Gyun(Jin Kyu), the Flame Emperor Great Blade, is one of the Eight Great Warriors in ''Absolute Sword Sense'' Novel and Webtoon.
Background[]
He is one of the most powerful warriors in the era of Old Murim. Despite old age he does not plan to retire, instead he keep pushing himself forward wanting to be even stronger. In original time line he avoided politic matters and stayed neutral as a Forces of Justice warrior who is not official member of Orthodox Murim Alliance. He only supported them during a revival of Blood Cult. That's why he ended up fighting with Hae Ak-Cheon and despite heavy injures he cut off his right arm.
After Jin Woon-Hwi regression in second timeline because of his actions and changing history, Jin Gyun joined Orthodox Murim Alliance even before official resurrection of the Blood Cult.
He is a ambitious and extremely stubborn person who believes in absolute strength. He would like to progress endlessly to be the strongest martial artist due to his competitive complex but he can not overcome human limited life spawn. That's why he is harsh as a teacher to his grandson, especially when Jin Young bringing shame on him due to his miscalculations and behavior.
Plot[]
After he meets Jin Woon-Hwi for the first time, Jin Gyun felt that young warrior was hiding his powers. When his ''stupid grandson'' could not see that and simply ignored Wonhwi, he was mad at him but started to think that they could be a good rivals. This type of relation can be beneficial for Jin Young growth so old man was somewhat excited inside.
After event of Baek Hyang-Muk impeachment he decided to run as a candidate for the new leader of the Orthodox Murim Alliance supported by Sima Jung-Hyun. He wanted this position because his innate ambition, especially when he heard that his most hated rival Jong Cheon was also appointed as a candidate. Seeking for support in election matters he meet Jin Woon-Hwi and after friendly sparring, he proposed him position of the vice leader. Unfortunately for him after their conversation Jin Woon-Hwi disappeared and he lost election matter. Jin Gyun became a vice leader of the Orthodox Murim Alliance and together with his faction was against war with the Blood Cult until solving internal matter with enemy that infiltrated them.
Martial Arts[]
Infernal Flame Divine Arts, this was Jin Gyun exclusive martial arts technique.
It was said that his exceptional talent and mastery made flames even ignite on the sword he wielded. However, I didn’t know that even just qi could make the air hot.
In ''Myst, Might, Mayhem'' there was none martial arts master in Orthodox Murim Alliance faction that used similar technique. So probably Jin Gyun descendants died during Great Calamity. However, based on this technique description it's most likely that this martial art inspired creation of the Crimson Fire Sword Technique of Lee family. Probably Lee Hwamoon obsession over completing his martial art came from stories about Infernal Flame Divine Arts from Old Murim Era. Thanks to the Blue Spirit who finished Crimson Fire Sword Technique and handed it to the Left Guardian Family founder, it can be stated that martial arts of Jin Gyun were recreated to some extent. Ironically by the unorthodox side.
