Absolute Sword Sense Wiki

The Orthodox Murim Alliance is the strongest organization during events of Absolute Sword Sense. They are trying to monopolize justice and righteousness.

Overview[]

In the beginning, balance in the Central Plains was maintained by three major powers: the Orthodox Murim Alliance, the natural Dual Martial Forces, and the Forces of Evil's Blood Cult. This equilibrium was disrupted when the Orthodox Alliance strategically aligned itself with the Dual Martial Forces.

History[]

Expending it with overwhelming advantages both in the number of troops and the sheer presence of Supreme Warriors, the combined orthodox factions crushed the Forces of Evil, led by the Blood Cult, in what became known as the Great Orthodox/Unorthodox War, fought twenty years ago. The Blood Cult was believed to have been annihilated, and the war's conclusion marked a turning point in the region's power dynamics.

In the aftermath, the Orthodox Murim Alliance further expanded its influence, beginning a campaign to absorb small and medium-sized orthodox sects in the southern regions beyond the Yangtze River. With their greatest enemies defeated and many top leaders of unorthodox sects either killed or forced into hiding, the Alliance entered an era of confidence and unchecked growth believing the Blood Demon’s bloodline had been completely eradicated, ushering in a period of apparent peace.

Among the many figures who played pivotal roles during the war, two stood out above all: Jaegal Won-Myung a strategic mastermind and Baek Hyang-Muk, the commander of the frontlines who is credited with delivering the fatal blow to Baek Moo-Young, the leader of the Blood Cult.

Fall of the Alliance and Rise of Chaos[]

Many years passed before the true beginning of the story. In both timelines, the once powerful alliance between the Orthodox Murim Alliance and the Dual Martial Forces eventually collapsed.

In the first timeline, the Murim Alliance remained strong for a decade after the breakdown of its alliance with the Dual Martial Forces. This was thanks to the unparalleled intellect of Jaegal Won-Myung, one of the greatest strategists in the Alliance’s history. The Golden Eye Troops had already seized control over the other factions, but Jaegal's leadership prevented them from gaining dominance over the Alliance. His presence alone maintained the Murim Alliance’s autonomy and stability.

In the second timeline, following Jin Woon-Hwi’s regression and his deliberate interference in key events, the Golden Eye Troops failed to seize control of either the Blood Cult or the Dual Martial Forces. However, this timeline proved disastrous for the Murim Alliance Woon-Hwi assassinated Jaegal Won-Myung during a scheme to retake the Blood Cult's Blood Demon Sword, removing the keystone of their defenses. Without his brilliant mind, the Alliance was left vulnerable. The Golden Eye Troops quickly infiltrated the faction from within.

Power Struggle[]

The Second Military Advisor, Sima Jung-Hyun, recognized the growing internal threat. Though his influence was far weaker than his predecessor’s, he attempted to counteract the infiltration. To do so, he allied with Jin Gyun, promoting him as the next leader of the Alliance.

The existing leader was forced to resign after an impeachment led by the Council of Elders, which had been manipulated behind the scenes by the Golden Eye Troops. Simultaneously, Baek Hyang-Muk's dark secret his study of the forbidden Blood Heavenly Sura Arts was exposed, further destabilizing the leadership.

Three candidates emerged for succession:

  • Jin Gyun, backed by Sima Jung-Hyun and unaffected factions.
  • Jeong Seon, the Taiji Sword Emperor, supported by Baek Hyang-Muk.
  • Jong Cheon, backed by most military forces and the new General Strategist Bang Deok-Hyun.

Both Jin Gyun and Jeong Seon sought the support of Jin Woon-Hwi, hoping to sway the tide in their favor. However, Woon-Hwi chose neutrality and vanished for seven months. In his absence, Jong Cheon was elected leader of the Orthodox Murim Alliance.

War Against the Blood Cult[]

Jong Cheon launched an aggressive campaign against the Blood Cult, supported by Jeong Seon. Jin Gyun, appointed vice-leader, chose to remain behind and withheld his forces from the conflict. Initially, the orthodox forces made rapid gains. With the Blood Cult’s leader absent, they adopted a purely defensive strategy. However, everything changed in the final battle when Jin Woon-Hwi returned.

Unleashing the ultimate form of his Illusionary Eye's Blood Demon Domineering Step, Woon-Hwi instantly annihilated hundreds of elite warriors and executives. Jong Cheon was killed in a matter of moments, and the frontlines were decimated. The reserve forces retreated in terror, and the orthodox side suffered a devastating defeat.

The aftermath was grim with their new leader dead and army broken. The Third Military Advisor Baek Wi-Hyang perished at Woon-Hwi's hands. The Taiji Sword Emperor fell to Jeol Sim, the Cruel Killer.

Crisis and Rise of Woon-Hwi[]

A new leadership election began. Initially, two candidates were chosen, but a third unexpected challenger emerged. The Council of Elders decreed that the matter would be settled through martial competition.

The candidates were:

  • Baek Hyang-Muk, backed by remnants of Jong Cheon’s supporters and secretly supported by Ju Yang-Seon.
  • Jin Gyun, representing the factions untouched by Golden Eye's manipulation.
  • Jin Woon-Hwi, who gained Jin Gyun’s support after defeating him in combat.

Later events revealed Baek Hyang-Muk’s betrayal of Ju Yang-Seon. With Woon-Hwi’s intervention, Baek voluntarily withdrew from the succession, leaving the path clear for Jin Woon-Hwi to become the new leader of the Orthodox Murim Alliance. With this, Woon-Hwi unified all three major forces of the Central Plains under his influence.

The Return of Baek Muja and Collapse[]

However, the resurgence of Baek Muja brought ruin upon the Alliance. His bloody crusade inflicted catastrophic losses. Countless warriors died, and the Alliance's strongest warrior, Baek Hyang-Muk, was crippled. After the war, Jin Woon-Hwi withdrew his support. The Orthodox Murim Alliance, now leaderless and weakened, became the frailest power in Murim. Thus began a new age. It was a time of prosperity for both the Blood Cult and the Dual Martial Forces, especially in terms of their unmatched number of peerless masters, many of whom pledged allegiance or were affiliated with these two dominant forces.
