You may not know, but after that sword revealed itself to the world again, it passed through three owners, and the number of people they killed combined exceeds nearly a thousand.
Plundering-killing Sword (겁살검) is one of the infamous Yokai Swords created by the master blacksmith Ou Yezi. Among all swords of the Yokai Sword collection, it is regarded as the most dangerous one with an inherently cruel nature. It's spirit embodies evil tendencies with his only desire being to kill anyone and everything in its path.
This Demon Sword has an extremely strong ego, making it very difficult for any wielder to withstand it's will. Wherever this sword goes piles of corpses are sure to be made. His ego was so strong, that he was able to manifest his murderous will to the new owner in ''Myst, Might, Mayhem'' series. Despite not having a Voice Of The Sword ability, new chosen one could somewhat understand his sword in certain situations.
Due to its unbearably fierce and brutal ego - one that demanded endless slaughter - no one had ever been able to fully subjugate the sword and become its chosen wielder. That changed when the Plundering-Killing Sword fell into the hands of its final master. For the first time, it grew silent and docile, obeying without question, as meek as a lamb.
Powers[]
Every wound dealt by the sword cannot be healed. Only masters at level of Eight Taoists or specific individuals can withstand or fully nullify its effects.
If you get cut by that guy, the bleeding won't stop. It enjoys watching humans slowly die. That is why the yogi manifested itself in this way.—Blood Demon Sword talking about Plundering-killing Sword's taste
The wound on his left shoulder, which had been cut by the sword, was strange. He had clearly pressed the blood-stopping points and sent true energy to the wound, but it kept bleeding, and the pain was gradually intensifying. The wound from the cut wasn’t healing.—Hyun Mun-ja of the Qingcheng Sect
The weapon's bloodlust is so overwhelming that it can conjure illusions of people in distress, even mimicking the voices of its past victims crying for help, all to lure in unsuspecting prey and seize control over them.
Save me! Please save me. Save me! Please! Please! Save me. Please!—Plundering-killing Sword luring Joo Woonhyang
Once a victim grasps the Plundering-Killing Sword, the weapon instantly seizes control of their mind - corrupting them, driving them into madness, and flooding their body with its demonic energy.
Along with it, convulsions spread throughout Joo Woonhyang’s body as he held the sword. Unable to control the trembling, numerous noises filled his head, turning it upside down. It wasn’t just one or two voices. The number of voices gradually increased, seeming to reach dozens or hundreds. In the midst of this, Joo Woonhyang’s eyes wavered. [Kill! Kill it!] [Why, why are you doing this?] [Please spare me. Please……] [Give me your body!] [Die! Die!] The noises that sent chills down his spine further clouded his mind. The noises were filled with murderous intent and resentment, and they tried to quickly erode Joo Woonhyang’s mind and body.—Plundering-killing Sword taking over Joo Woonhyang's body
Unlike the Blood Demon Sword, which desperately tries to make an unworthy wielder release it, the Plundering-Killing Sword has a far crueler nature - it ensures its victim can never let go, tightening its grip until total control is seized.
‘I need to…… let go…… of my hand.’ Joo Woonhyang tried to remove his hand from the sword hilt. However, as if it was stuck, the sword hilt wouldn’t leave his palm. Rather, with the sword hilt in his grip, the blade smoothly slid out from the wall. If the blade had been stuck there long enough for the corpse to become a skeleton, it should have been rusted, but surprisingly, it was intact and even emitting sword energy. ‘Let go! Let it go……’ Joo Woonhyang tried to remove the sword from his hand with all his strength. But it was useless. The innate true energy in his middle danjeon was generating intense heat, resisting this murderous energy, but the screams and vengeful spirits contained in this unknown sword were too strong. Eventually, the trembling in Joo Woonhyang’s hand that held the sword stopped.—Plundering-killing Sword seizing full control
The Plundering-Killing Sword also possesses other abilities, the most distinctive of which is the Scripture of Transferring True Qi. This technique not only neutralizes an enemy’s powerful attack but can even reflect it back at them.
The power of the killing move, with blue-colored strong energy imbued in her blood-stained hands, was utterly tyrannical. The power was so strong that it seemed like it would tear apart the opponent in an instant. However, Joo Woonhyang drew a circle with his sword towards her claw technique. The air inside the circle rippled like waves. The killing move of the Blood Jade Hand she unleashed was bounced back. Moreover, the power was also fully bounced back, causing Dam Baek-ha to hurriedly block it and be pushed back.—Plundering-killing Sword powers
The Plundering-Killing Sword has wielded this technique against countless masters over the years. Among its most famed opponents - those who faced this terrifying power - were Baek Hyang-Muk, Baek Hye-Hyang, Jin Woon-Hwi, Dam Baek-ha, and even the legendary Blade God.
History[]
Absolute Sword Sense[]
The Plundering-Killing Sword was initially introduced as the weapon of one of the Four Great Evils, Jeol Sim the Cruel Killer. In Jin Woon-Hwi’s first life - before his regression - his knowledge about this sword and its wielder was extremely limited. He only knew that the weapon had slain one of the Eight Great Warriors, Jong Seon, the Taiji Sword Emperor, under mysterious circumstances. The incident occurred in the heart of the Wudang Sect, yet no further details were ever revealed to the world.
In the second timeline, after Woon-Hwi’s regression, he first heard of the Cruel Killer and his cursed sword shortly after returning from his training at Dohwaseon, seven months after his disappearance. He learned that during the Orthodox-Unorthodox War, which had erupted in his absence, an epic battle took place between Dan Wei-Kang (the First Elder of the Blood Cult) and Jong Seon, the Taiji Sword Emperor. Midway through their duel, Jeol Sim suddenly intervened, attempting to kill them both.
Forced into a temporary alliance, the two rival masters fought together - yet, just as in the first timeline, Jong Seon fell to the same Demonic Sword. Meanwhile, Dan Wei-Kang vanished without a trace. It was later revealed that he survived but lost an arm in the confrontation.
The Plundering-Killing Sword also left Baek Hye-Hyang severely wounded in Jin Woon-Hwi’s absence. She would have bled to death, as the sword’s cursed effect prevented her wounds from healing. However, Woon-Hwi saved her by using Ancient Immortal Taoist Techniques he had mastered in Dohwaseon, purging the sword’s malevolent energy from her body.
It was only after confronting Baek Hyang-Muk that Jin Woon-Hwi learned the truth about Jeol Sim the Cruel Killer. In that moment, a hidden history was revealed - after three years of hunting one of the Four Great Evils, a man already responsible for thousands of deaths, the Murim Alliance’s leader had finally tracked him down.
On a hot summer day in the third year since the search began, Bon Meng found traces of this guy, and considering the danger he faced, Nobu came forward himself. A guy who never left a trace and stayed somewhere for a long time stayed in a certain village for over 15 days. Nobu led about 30 elite masters and raided the place.
The battle was fierce - a relentless, half-day clash without a single moment's respite. By the end, every warrior had fallen, save for the Murim Alliance Leader. With his last ounce of strength, he managed to defeat the Cruel Killer... only to uncover a horrifying truth he hadn't yet realized. It turned out that Jeol Sim, known as one of the Four Great Evils, was never a person at all - but the Plundering-Killing Sword itself, a cursed weapon that possesses its victims one after another.
Think of it all as karma for the murders you committed.—Baek Hyang-Muk before killing Jeol Sim
Does not matter. Because I have found the best body ever.—Plundering-killing Sword, to Baek Hyang-Muk
The sword set its sights on its next victim - a young orphan named Lee Jung-Gyeom. However, lacking direct contact to possess him, the weapon chose a more subtle approach by exploiting Baek Hyang-Muk's greed. The Murim Alliance leader, unwilling to part with such a powerful armament, decided to subdue it himself, tempted by the prospect of easy power after witnessing its might firsthand in battle. But his plan backfired spectacularly - exactly as the Plundering-Killing Sword had intended. The weapon first possessed the Taoist monk who tried to place sealing talismans on it, then deliberately placed itself in Lee Jung-Gyeom's hands to claim its true target.
Despite Baek Hyang-Muk successfully disarming his disciple and seizing the cursed sword, it was already too late. The blade's demonic nature had begun corrupting the youth's mind - even without physical contact. According to Murim Alliance Leader's testimony, Lee Jeong-gyeom's unusual sensitivity made him particularly vulnerable to the weapon's influence. His personality would shift violently dozens of times daily, as if two souls warred within one body. In his lucid moments, he remembered nothing of these episodes - yet each time the darkness took over, he became single-mindedly obsessed with reclaiming the Sword of Death.
For this reason, Baek Hyang-Muk secretly concealed the Plundering-Killing Sword in an undisclosed location, while entrusting his disciple to the care of the Wudang Sect's trusted leader. The Taiji Sword Emperor employed various Taoist techniques on the youth to suppress the development of his dark alter ego - with apparent success. This created the false impression that the corruption had been completely purged. In reality, the sword was merely biding its time, waiting for an opportunity to kill Jeong Seon, who was suppressing its influence. Tragically, Baek Hyang-Muk realized too late that something was amiss. By the time he understood the truth, the Wudang Sect leader lay dead, and the carefully hidden sword had vanished without a trace.
Jin Woon-Hwi after hearing this story agreed to strike a bargain and help Baek Hyang-Muk resolve the issue with his disciple. But an unexpected complication arose - during their confrontation, 'Lee Jung-Gyeom' suddenly transformed into a dark, demonic form and appeared to possess knowledge of some Dohwaseon's secrets... knowledge he should never have had. To make matters worse, a second, identical Lee Jung-Gyeom appeared mid-battle - this one in his normal form.
The shocking truth emerged - there existed two distinct ''Lee Jung-Gyeom's'', a fact unknown to both the real Lee and his master. One was vastly more powerful, capable of assuming demonic form, while the other - Baek Hyang-Muk's actual disciple - remained weaker. As later revealed, the true Lee Jung-Gyeom had deceived his master, fully aware of the dark persona created by the Plundering-Killing Sword's influence, and remembered everything despite his previous claims. Determined to handle this alone, he secretly sought out the greatest physician of the era for help. This explains how Jeol Sim's identity tablet ended up in the doctor's possession - the very tablet seen early in the series when Hae Ak-Cheon attempted to heal Jin Woon-Hwi's energy core in Six Blood Valley.
After defeating the demonic Lee Jung-Gyeom, another mystery emerged. When Jin Woon-Hwi purged the dark energy from the real Lee Jung-Gyeom using his Voice of the Sword ability, he witnessed a memory belonging to the cursed sword - a vision showing Jin Woon-Hwi himself killing Ja Kyung-jeong, the mad disciple of the Sword Immortal. The shocking truth was revealed: despite his physical death, Ja Kyung-jeong's soul had survived... and become the ego of the Sword of Death.
Myst Might Mayhem[]
After Jin Woon-Hwi and his wives departed permanently for Dohwaseon, the swords were accidentally rediscovered. Their reappearance caused massive upheaval due to their dark nature and immense power. Though once hidden together, the swords were now scattered across the world, each claiming countless lives as they passed violently from one wielder to another.
At some point, the Plundering-Killing Sword ended up in the deepest dungeons of the Imperial Palace, forgotten and sealed away - until Joo Woonhyang, a young cadet on temporary guard rotation, stumbled upon it. The moment he touched it, the sword’s malevolent ego possessed him, whispering grandiose plans of returning to the world as "Jeol Sim the Cruel Killer" to unleash another era of slaughter. However, fate intervened when the possessed cadet crossed paths with Dam Baek-ha and Mok Gyeongwoon (the future Heavenly Demon).
You two…. Your bodies…. Look good….—Plundering-killing Sword
Mok, preoccupied with freeing the Fire Faith Order Priestess, asked Dam Baek-ha to handle the situation - preferably without killing Joo Woonhyang, whom he’d grown fond of. Upon returning, Mok Gyeongwoon found that Dam Baek-ha had succeeded, just as the prison’s self-destruct mechanism activated. Using a shamanic artifact ring, future Demon Lord opened an escape portal but unwilling to leave such a fine weapon behind, he took the Plundering-Killing Sword with him.
It’s a waste to just leave it behind.
Despite Blood Demon’s warnings and the sword’s infamous bloodlust, something bizarre happened: the moment Mok Gyeongwoon held it, the weapon fell completely silent. No resistance, no attempts to dominate, just eerie obedience, as if it recognized Mok’s nature and chose submission. The only exception was its sword cry, which flared when it first sensed Jin Ye-Rin (a descendant of Jin Woon-Hwi). It yearned to kill her, seething when Mok Gyeongwoon instead befriended her. Yet, despite sword's rage, under the Heavenly Demon’s will, it dared not act out.
From then on, the sword became Mok’s loyal instrument of carnage. It carved through entire sects , annihilating the Secret Group, butchering Qingcheng Sect disciples and clashed with legends, from Gu Seong-baek (one of the Six Heavens) to the Blade God, whose Extreme Arts failed to so much as chip its edge. It reveled in slaughtering Mokgan and taking a part in magnificent mayhem of the Sky Flash, but its most personal moment came during Heavenly Demon’s confrontation with Jin Woon-Hwi. Though defeated again, the sword at least seized the chance to scream its grievances at its old nemesis, a petty but satisfying consolation.
Then, a strong resonating sound spread from the demonic sword Plundering-killing Sword in Mok Gyeong-un’s left hand. Mok Gyeong-un couldn’t hide his puzzlement at the resonating sound. He was aware that its sword spirit was stronger than Evil Commandment Sword’s, but the sword was showing strong hostility towards that demon mask as if it were alive. Then, as if sensing this hostility from Plundering-killing Sword, the demon-masked man said, - Still full of killing intent, I see. Plundering-killing Sword. - Was he actually addressing the sword? At those words, the resonating sound from Plundering-killing Sword grew even stronger. - Woo woo woong! - It was even trembling to the point where he could feel it in the sword handle he was gripping.—Plundering-killing Sword in hands of Heavenly Demon enraged by meeting Woon-Hwi after the centuries
Through it all, the Plundering-Killing Sword remained paradoxically obedient in Mok Gyeongwoon’s hands, its submission as absolute as its violence. Whether out of fear, recognition, or some deeper design, it never dared defy the Heavenly Demon - proving that even the cruelest weapons kneel before true darkness.
