Won Jung, also known as the All-Healing Divine Physician, is the greatest doctor of his era in Absolute Sword Sense.
Background[]
The title 'All-Healing Divine Physician' is traditionally bestowed upon the greatest doctor of each era. These physicians are renowned for their ability to heal anyone - as long as they're not already dead. This epithet became widely known among the people, further enhancing the Divine Doctor's prestige.
The current holder of this title maintains complete neutrality, offering treatment to all without discrimination or favoritism toward any faction. This absolute impartiality has granted him a unique status of inviolability, respected by both orthodox and unorthodox factions alike.
Plot[]
Won Jung is a pivotal but forgotten figure in the story’s progression. During his visit to Six Blood Valley, he healed Baek Ryeon-Ha and gifted his personal token to Jin Woon-Hwi. This token granted its bearer the right to Won Jung’s unconditional aid. Woon-Hwi used this token to fabricate a story about his miraculous recovery by becoming Ho Jong-Dae’s disciple. In doing so, he deceived So Ik-Heon into selecting him as the clan’s representative, allowing him to enter the Murim Alliance martial arts tournament. Ultimately, this allowed him to steal the Blood Demon Sword and become the new Blood Demon. Later, the same token was used to heal a severely injured disciple of Gwak Hyeong-jik, one of the Murim Alliance elders. This act convinced Gwak to ally with Jin Woon-Hwi, concealing his true identity from the other orthodox elders and even nominating him as a candidate for the next Murim Alliance Leader - all thanks to the All-Healing Divine Physician’s influence.
The All-Healing Divine Physician also aided Lee Jung-Gyeom in exchange for his Identity Token of Jeol Sim. While this transaction occurred off-screen, we can confidently deduce the details based on Won Jung's established principles - he never accepts payment unless he can provide a cure. Furthermore, the early appearance of the Cruel Killer's token in his possession strongly suggests he helped Lee Jung-Gyeom gain some level of control over the alternate personality created by the Plundering-Killing Sword.
Won Jung also plays a critical role after Gu Jae-Yang’s death, becoming the primary target of the One Golden-Eyed Man. The Blood Cult’s Third Elder had monopolized the production of Illusion Poison, a potent toxin capable of erasing the minds of even elite warriors who had ‘Crossed the Wall.’ This poison was the cornerstone of Ju Yang-seon’s schemes and his behind-the-scenes control. After Jin Woon-Hwi killed Gu Jae-Yang, the dwindling supply of Illusion Poison left the Golden Emperor desperate to recreate it. Thus, he targeted Won Jung - the greatest physician of the era - seeking his knowledge. As a backup plan, he also pursued the leader of the Sichuan Tang Clan.
However, locating him proved close to impossible - after leaving Six Blood Valley, the Divine Doctor had vanished without a trace. Even Ju Yang-seon's extensive intelligence network failed to uncover his whereabouts. The mystery was only solved later when they discovered Won Jung had been residing in the Imperial Palace all along, serving as the Emperor's personal physician.
Martial Arts[]
Little is known about his martial arts or cultivation realm. However, it's commonly understood that Poison Masters, by the very nature of their practice, possess extensive medical knowledge - for the right dose of poison can also serve as medicine. The reverse holds equally true: even great physicians who don't regularly practice martial arts still master Poison Arts, knowing well that medicine in improper doses becomes poison - and consequently, a weapon.
